Let's Get Started!

Get three pages.

Separate 3 pages from a newspaper.

Fold.

Fold each piece three times.

Cut strips.

Cut each folded strip in half.

Lay strips.

Lay three strips down next to each other so they are touching.

Weave.

Weave a strip starting on the left side and go over the first strip, under the second and over the third.

Weave, again.

Weave another strip starting on the left side and go under the first strip, over the second and under the third.

Weave one more time.

Weave the last strip starting on the left side and go over the first strip, under the second and over the third.

Place tube.

Place your paper tube on the right side of the woven strips.

Attach tube.

Wrap the extra strip pieces around the tube and tape them down.

Fold and staple.

Fold up all of the extra strip pieces and staple them to make a rectangular woven newspaper.

Decorate with paint.

Paint the flag however you want.
