Paint two plates.

Paint your paper plates any way you’d like. Allow time for these to dry completely.

Add a stick.

Lay your dowel on the edge of one plate so it sticks out, like a handle. Hint: Remember you want the decorated side facing out!

Tape down stick.

Secure the dowel with a few pieces of tape.

Position plate.

Lay the other plate on top, so the decorated side faces out.

Staple most of plate.

Staple all the way around the plate leaving just enough room to stick in your hand at the top.

Fill with dried beans.

Fill your stapled plates with a handful of dried beans.

Finish stapling.

Staple the rest of the plate shut.

Punch holes.

Punch a few holes around the plate. Tip: Be careful to not let any beans get away!

Cut yarn.

Cut a piece of yarn for each hole you punched.

Tie yarn.

Tie a piece of yarn through each hole.

Add beads.

Attach a bead at the end of each piece of yarn. Shake, rattle and roll with your brand new tambourine!
